The Citadis X05 is the fifth generation of Alstom’s Citadis tram family. The five-section, low-floor version, listed as the Citadis 305, has double doors along its entire length. Alstom states that its permanent-magnet motors and optimised heating, ventilation and auxiliary systems reduce energy consumption by 25%.
In Athens, Greece, 25 Citadis X05 trams entered passenger service on 15 December 2021, supplementing the existing fleet on the Athens–Piraeus tram network and serving its extension into Piraeus. Each tram is 33.42 m long and 2.40 m wide, with a capacity of up to 294 passengers. They are the first Alstom trams in Greece.
