This view looks north along the open coastline of West Triopetra beach, away from the area’s landmark rock formations at the southern end.
From this vantage point, the scale of the beach becomes clear. An unbroken stretch of sand runs for several kilometers toward distant coastal mountains, bordered by water that shifts from turquoise near the shore to deep blue further out. Facing the open Libyan Sea, this side of the coast reflects the wide, undeveloped character typical of southern Crete.
