A small village in the Phocis region of central Greece, within the Municipality of Delphi, Elaionas lies at the foot of Mount Parnassus, about 5 kilometres from Amfissa. Its name simply means “olive grove” in Greek, a reference to the extensive olive groves that dominate the surrounding landscape. The village was historically known as Topolia, a name traditionally associated with the Slavic word for “poplar”.
Close to the historic town of Amfissa and the archaeological site of Delphi, Elaionas forms part of one of the most historically significant regions of central Greece.
