Bibliophile’s Heaven

The Starfield Library (스타필드 도서관), also known as Byeolmadang Library (별마당 도서관), is one of Seoul’s most iconic libraries. Located inside the underground Starfield COEX Mall in Gangnam District, it opened to the public on May 31, 2017.

Its most striking feature is the set of three towering bookshelves, each about 13 meters tall, which frame an open area of 2,800 square meters. The library houses around 50,000 books and 600 magazines, all available for on-site reading, as there are no lending services.

The space is modern and well-lit, with reading areas equipped with tables and power outlets, creating a calm and inviting atmosphere that contrasts with the busy mall around it. It also serves as a cultural hub, hosting free events such as author talks, readings, exhibitions, and small concerts.

Admission is free, and it is open daily from 10:30 AM to 10:00 PM. The library is directly connected to Samseong Station (Line 2) and Bongeunsa Station (Line 9), making it an easily accessible stop for both locals and visitors.
