Cherry blossoms (벚꽃, beotkkot) are a beloved symbol of spring in Korea. Every year, as the weather warms, these delicate pink and white flowers bloom across the country, drawing crowds to parks and festivals. One of the most famous spots to view cherry blossoms is in Jinhae (진해), where the Jinhae Gunhangje Festival (진해군항제) celebrates the season with parades, performances, and stunning floral views. In Seoul, popular viewing locations include Yeouido (여의도) and Seokchon Lake (석촌호수), where cherry blossom trees line the walkways, creating breathtaking scenes. The short blooming period makes the blossoms even more special, marking a time of beauty and renewal.
Another enchanting location is Daewangam Park (대왕암공원) in Dong-gu, Ulsan (울산 동구), where cherry blossoms frame the dramatic coastal scenery. The trees there include cultivars such as ‘Shirofugen’ or ‘Shogetsu’, known for their full, layered petals and graceful appearance—possibly like the one captured in my photograph.
