The Playa de Los Pescadores in Punta del Diablo is a well-known spot where fishermen embark early in the morning and return at sunset with their daily catch. Manually dragging their boats from the shore, these fishermen clean and showcase their catch on the beach, drawing attention from both tourists and locals.
The Mustelus schmitti, Narrownose smooth-hound or gatuzo, is a species of shark endemic to the southwestern Atlantic, from Rio de Janeiro to Argentine Patagonia. This shark generally measures between 70 to 120 centimeters in length, featuring a smooth, gray body with a white belly. Feeding primarily on crustaceans and small fish, the Mustelus schmitti inhabits coastal waters and is often found near the seabed. The species is ovoviviparous, with embryos developing inside eggs that remain within the mother’s body until they hatch. Mustelus schmitti is currently listed as Critically Endangered (CR) on the IUCN Red List.
