One of the interesting holes in the slope of Montaña Colorada, they are curious landslides, but I cannot give any more information, although I have searched.
🌋 From a satellite view you can see the three holes and the lapilli quarry.
On our visit to Fuerteventura we made a fantastic camel ride through Montaña Colorada and Calderon Hondo volcano, dating from about 50,000 years, in Lajares (La Oliva).
The volcano Calderón Hondo is one of the seven volcanoes of the Bayuyo in the best state of conservation. During the tour it is possible to climb it and also look into its crater. From its summit, at 278 meters above sea level and on the edge, you can admire a large crater 70 meters deep and very nice views of Fuerteventura.
The volcanic alignment of Bayuyo is a set of volcanic cones that erupted at the same time, following an almost straight line. These volcanoes have a circular plan and calderiform craters, ranging from Isla de Lobos to Montaña Colorada. Bayuyo, a pre-Hispanic word (bajiwogjiwog) in Amazigh language (Tuareg or southern Berber cultures, which was the dominant language of the Canary Islands), has a spiritual meaning, and could be transcribed as enchanted clouds or floating objects.
