On the right side of the Agüimes-Temisas road, in an agadir called Risco Pintado is the archaeological site of La Audiencia and adjacent to it a set of hollows carved in the volcanic tuff that correspond to an aboriginal granary called Cuevas de la Audiencia (also Cuevas del Positó or Agadir de Temisas).
It is accessed through a wide corridor of recent opening, since the old accesses have collapsed due to the passage of time and erosion. The visit provides a clear vision of the importance of these storage places, the care taken in their location and the measures adopted to guarantee the quantity of the products stored in the place in case of any circumstance that could endanger them. Above all, the location of a clear example of an almost impregnable fortress for anyone who wanted to loot the place.
Originally the entrance was made through a narrow space from the roof based on rough steps in the dry rock. The central body of the cavities is made up of a wide cavern about 6 meters wide by 12 meters long. In its center there is a column that forms a whole with the roof and the floor. In it there is only one silo, but it gives way to another nave with seven beautiful silos of one meter deep by 2 or 3 meters long. To the left of the central cave there is another one with 19 silos, many of them dug in the floor, which is accessed by a very narrow passage.
It is part of an archaeological settlement located very close to Temisas, also called Risco Pintado, of artificially carved caves used for different functions: bedroom, kitchen, silos, granary, ovens, tagoror, etc. The toponym responds to the popular name given to the structure of stones located at the base of Risco Pintado, which some authors consider to be a tagoror.
Tagoror was the name in Guanche given by the aboriginal Guanches of the island of Tenerife -Canary Islands, Spain- to a type of enclosure where the leaders of the community met. By extension it has also been applied to the assembly itself. The term has been extended in the archaeological literature to designate similar enclosures in the other islands of the archipelago.
